After two comfortable victories this game was anything but comfortable,
but it showed that this team is never beaten. Finding themselves 2-0
down to a couple of rather bizarre own goals The Belles fought back
to win 4-2. Both of the own goals came following long throw ins from
the left. The first one was headed into her own net by Kelly Moss
and the second one appeared to go in off keeper Sian Hall. Who
would be a goalkeeper, as minutes earlier Sian had pulled
off a magnificent save to deny Stevenage a second goal as they piled
on the pressure. Just as it looked as though The Belles would go into
the interval 2-0 down they won a corner. Just as what happened against
Harpenden, Kelly Moss`s corner appeared to go straight into the
net. They may have been second best in the first half, but The Belles
looked fired up in the early minutes of the second half, both Lauren
Bruton and Robyn Wilfort were both denied by good saves by
the Stevenage keeper. Ten minutes into the second half The Belles equalized.
The lively Robyn Wilfort cut in from the left and her goalbound
shot was deflected past the keeper by a defender. It was all Luton now,
and the keeper pulled off yet another good save, this time to deny Livi
Robinson. With just under four minutes left The Belles got their
just rewards when Livi Robinson scored with a shot into the top
corner from the edge of the penalty area. That goal looked to have sealed
the points, but The Belles were not finished yet. In the final minute
a long high ball into the penalty area from Stephanie White was
dropped by the keeper, and Yasmin Hickling blasted the rebound
into the roof of the net from six yards. One could only feel
sorry for the keeper, who had done much to keep her side in the match
during the second half onslaught by The Belles

Any team sets their stall out to play to their strengths, and
that is just what Enfield did today. They came with seemingly
only one aim, to defend. If this was the case then it must be
said they did it very well. The Belles put a lot of early pressure
on the Enfield goal, winning a series of corners, but they were
unable to breach the visitors defence. Livi Robinson shot
just over the bar after six minutes and that was the closest to
a goal in the early stages. On the quarter hour mark Livi again
came close but was denied by a brilliant save by the keeper who
pushed the ball onto the crossbar. The deadlock was broken on
the stroke of half time and it took a stroke of genius to finally
breach the Enfield defence. Robyn Wilfort played a ball
into Lauren Bruton. With her back to the goal and a defender
right behind her, Lauren controlled the ball and turned almost
in one movement leaving the defender in her wake before hitting
a low shot into the bottom corner from ten yards. The second half
saw The Belles enjoy a lot of possesion, but did not force the
Enfield keeper into a save. The visitors left it late before they
threw players forward, and indeed then they caused a few anxious
moments in The Belles defence, but Kelly Moss and Stephanie
White kept them at bay.

This may only have been the fifth game of the season, but
when it is first versus second it is still a vital match.
It is not the day you need to have a depleted squad, including
no regular goalkeeper. However that is what the Under 11`s
faced going into this game, but in the end they need not
have worried. Stand in keeper Lauren Bruton
showed that she is a more than capable stand in, and it
turned out to be the best team performance of the season
so far against a very determinded Stevenage side. With the
breeze and slope against them in the first half The Belles
more than held their own, indeed they came closest to scoring
in the early on when the lively Yasmin Hickling rattled
the Stevenage crossbar on six minutes with a left foot volley.
A minute later Lauren Bruton pulled off a good save
at the other end. Chances were few and far between after
that and half time arrived with the game still goaless.
With the elements in their favour The Belles were soon on
the offensive as the second half began. Within a minute
of the restart a good move involving Jade McEntaggart
and Livi Robinson ended with a shot by Yasmin
Hickling that was inches wide. A minute later and The
Belles were ahead, with what must be a contender for goal
of the season. Jade McEntaggart and a defender foiught for
the ball just out side the penalty area, the ball then ran
loose into the path of Livi Robinsoni who struck
a fierce rising shot into the top corner from eighteen yards.
Stevenage tried to hit back almost immediately, and they
had a half chance that was blocked away by Stephanie
White. Livi went close to scoring again soon after,
and it was now constant prressure by The Belles. Yasmin
Hickling was causing the home defence many anxious moments
with her none stop running. Five minutes from time it was
Yasmin`s persistance that brough about The Belles
secong goal. A cross wipped in from the right by Jade McEntaggart
was turned in to her own net by a Stevenage defender while
under pressure from Yasmin. In the final minute Yasmin
got her reward for a good mornings work when she took advantage
of a poor clearance from the Stevenage keeper and blasted
the ball into the roof of the net from six yards
