| It was a miserable, grey, misty day in Stockwood Park as the
Belles had to wait until past kick-off time for the visitors
arrival. By the time the game started Charlton had rounded up
nine players.
The Belles started with a different formation, Jasmine Hall
given an opportunity up-front,with Jade Mansfield playing
on the right of midfield and Kerry Stratton in the centre.
As expected the Belles were soon on top, with Chloe Barnes
making a break from half-way and as she bore down on goal,
the flag was raised for a debatable offside. Jade Mansfield
headed a ball through to Lauren Bruton, who placed the ball
wide of the keeper, but against the post. Chloe then curled
a shot a foot wide of the post after a good run down the left.
Livi Robinson played a clever ball through the middle of Charlton's
back-line, Lauren picked it up and her shot was parried by
the keeper, only for Chloe to pounce on the loose ball, which
she swept home despite the efforts of the last defemder. 1-0.
Kerry Stratton then played in Jasmine with a diagonal ball,
who tried a shot which appeared to be rolling wide, until
Lauren turned it against the post. The ball rolled across
the goalmouth where Chloe, once again, raced in to lash the
ball in. 2-0. Lauren, from a deep position, then swept a ball
inside to Jasmine in space, but she ran and shot just wide.
Robyn Wilfort was then introduced on the left and was at the
centre of a period of improved passing football. Lauren got
on the end of one such move, but her shot from close in was
palmed on to the post by the keeper. Alice O'Shea then connected
sweetly with a loose ball from over 25 yards out and the ball
sailed over the keeper for a spectacular goal. 3-0. A good
short-corner routine between Chloe and Kelly, to tee-up Jade
McEntaggart who drove in a shot into the crowded area, which
was deflected wide. The final action of the half saw a superb
ball from Lauren to Jasmine, who shot wide with the keeper
coming out to narrow the angle.
Half-time
Alice set Jasmine away down the right flank, who crossed
into the box, where the keeper did well to save at Lauren's
feet. Jasmine then broke free down the middle and lifted her
shot just over the keeper and the bar. Yasmin Hickling then
got her first taste of the action when Lauren played another
dangerous ball through the middle, but she was inches wide
with her shot. Lauren then got beyond the defence and although
the keeper did well to get a strong hand to her shot, the
ball dipped under the bar for a well-deserved goal. 4-0. Jasmine
then delivered a high cross for Livi, who had stole forward,
to glance in a header into the far corner. 5-0. Yasmin then
broke through the middle and shaped to shoot before setting
up Lauren who turned the ball neatly inside the near post.
6-0. Yasmin then went on a run down the right and cut the
ball across to Lauren in the box, who spun and shot, but the
keeper was well-placed to save. Lauren then broke free from
the half-way line and this time slid the ball into the corner
for her hat-trick. 7-0. Kerry pushed forward from midfield
towards the end and had a shot from distance that went wide
and Claudia Hutton turned a good cross from Livi just wide.
The visitors managed to raise a late attack which Jade Mansfield
did well to shield for Sian Hall to gather in goal.
