| The match started at 10:30 on Saturday 27th November with
Brickhill taking the kick off. Luton soon took control and kept
most of the play in the Brickhill half. Brickhill only managed
a few attacks which were easily dealt with by the two Megans
(Willmott and Malster) in defence. After about ten minutes,
a good passing move involving Kerry Stratton, Leanne Lizaitis
and Alice OShea, ended in a shot into the bottom corner
from Alice, giving Luton an early lead. Luton then gained more
confidence and with great dribbling and skill, Alice ran through
the Brickhill defenders and had another shot ob target which
made the score 2-0 to Luton.
Second Half
In the second half, Brickhill got more into the game as Lutons
control of the ball was not as good as in the first half.
But Luton kept fighting and when Lynsi Hemmings made an excellent
tackle close to the half way line and as the ball was just
going off the pitch, she managed to slide across and keep
the ball in, passing it down the line to Alice who passed
the ball into the box for Alicia McIntosh to smack into the
back of the net. This made the score 3-0 to Luton. Brickhill
began to have a few more chances, but good defending from
Megan Willmott and Megan Carter kept them away from the Luton
Belles goal. Brickhills best chance was from a breakaway,
but when it looked like they would pull a goal back, a great
diving save from Tia Augustine (not our usual goalie) made
sure Luton kept a clean sheet. About five minutes from the
end of the match, Alice made a similar move to the first half,
by dribbling the ball right through the Brickhill defence
and scored Luton Belles final goal of the match, which also
completed her hat trick. Final score: 4-0 to Luton Town Belles
Tangerines. Well done to all players. A well deserved win
which takes Luton Town Tangerines into the next round of the
cup.
